Hi, I'm Rafa.

I'm originally from Brazil (though I am also a US citizen) and I started building engineering projects when I was 7 years old. I went to CMU to study Electrical and Computer Engineering, where I worked on building an open-source semiconductor fab. After a year at CMU, I dropped out to join the founding team of a startup still in stealth.

I mostly work with electronics, mechanics, and software, and excel at the intersection of these 3 areas.

Here are some things I've built:

• Piezo Nanopositioner
  3-axis stage that can move silicon wafers with sub-nanometer resolution.
• Portable and low-cost ECG machine
  Cheaper and more powerfull version of one of the most impactfull medical devices.
• AI-based video surveilance system
  Infrastructure to ingest, analyze, and stream large ammounts of video from cameras.
• Bolt action pen
  I bolt action pen machined out of copper.
